This is due to the fact that it is a protective hairstyle that suites the african hair. Itchy scalp is a very common issue no matter what hairstyle you have on as far as it has been on longer than a week, the moist that are trapped in would cause your scalp to itch.

Unlike every other hairstyle the box braids trap less moisture so it becomes a bit dry (this doesn’t always guarantee less itch) however there is still the need to pamper and clean it out, to make your protective style more enjoyable here is how to clean them;
